Hello, and welcome to Artist’s Alley Info! Pretty much everyone who attends anime/comic conventions and draws/sews/creates has at some point considered the idea of selling at the Artist’s Alley. But for many people, attempting to do so can be kind of overwhelming. Where to begin? How do you even go about getting a table? Where should you get things printed? Is anyone even going to want to buy this stuff?
Well, this tumblr is here to help. Our goal is to provide easy-to-read and useful information both for artists interested in trying the AA for the first time and artists who have been selling there for years. We’re a little bare right now but are working on some very useful but very large informational posts. At the moment, the blog is being maintained by a single user, who will give a small introduction below.
Hi! I’m pi-ratical, and if there were anyone else helping out with this blog I’d be Mod #1! (As it is, I suppose I’m still Mod #1 but the title is a bit meaningless.) I’ve been doing artist’s alleys in california for a few years now. In January 2007, before I started selling in Artist’s Alleys, I started a small thread on gaiaonline asking for advice. Months later I sold at my first con, Anime Expo 2007, at which I thoroughly crashed and burned. :P I didn’t try selling again until 2009 and have been selling at a couple of cons a year ever since. That small thread has grown into a huge source of information, and I’ve been around for all of it so in addition to person experience I have absorbed advice from many experienced artists. I’ll do my best to answer any Artist’s Alley related question presented, and if I don’t know the answer I will try to find it!
